Bio

Background

Phase One: Background
Grew up in N’awslins with a caring mother and a father I thought was a traveling business executive of some kind. Surrounded by the normal childhood influences of voodoo, gumbo, gambling, Bourbon St, and iniquity, I like to think I speak my mind and take bold risks, although it’s most often referred to as being an impulsive jackass.

Aspect:

  • Wanna bet?

Phase Two: What Shaped You
I knew grewing up that at 16, men in my family went on a year-long tour of the world, accompanied only by our fathers. I looked forward to this since for the greater part of my childhood, I barely knew him. When the fated day arrived, I was blindfolded and flown to a place I still don’t know to find out my father, despite all other appearances, was the Supreme Guardian of an order so ancient, it predates most organized religions with a mandate to find and protect the world’s most precious locations with its members lives. After five years in training, I emerged at the lowest level ready to prove myself, but with my father and his pack of yes-men watching my every move and butting in when I don’t need their help.

Aspect:

  • Heir of the Guardian

Phase Three: What was your First Story
Acolytes get assigned to grunt assignments to get our feet wet with other, higher-level members to mentor us. In my case, I was sent to guard the tomb of some dusty old veteran set in a mausoleum on the grounds of a cemetery. My mentor, Hale Stanwick, was a pretty sharp guy. I found out later that he and my father had no love loss between them so while Hale was an incredibly effective guardian, only one of he or my father could rise higher in the organization, with Hale relegated to this dead-end position. I was assigned this post by the Commandery, who wanted to keep me from getting a big head because of my father’s rank. Everything went fine for a few weeks until one night when Hale was away, some college punks thought it would be a good time to come on grounds and make a mess. Even though I knew they were no threat to the tomb in any meaningfuul sense, they still had no right to come around ripping stuff up. To cut to the chase, Hale came back in time to help me carry three bodies into the woods and stash them. I’d like to say I had a conversation with them to convince them to leave at which point the three of them jumped but, but that would be a lie. Instead, I jumped them and smashed all of them with a shovel I found lying around. Or as I like to say, I hit them back first.

Aspect:

  • The best defense is a good offense

Phase Four: Guest Star: Whose Path Have You Crossed?
I had only been Acolyte at Monticello for a few months when Kassandra showed up. Mark and some of the others knew her apparently from her UVA school days, but she spent most of her day locked up in back rooms doing research and avoiding human contact. She was pleasant enough to me, but seemed nervous, not of me, but definitely about something. One night I went out to take money from dumbass college kids playing Omaha when I saw Kassandra headed towards fraternity row. Long story short, I followed her there and decided to wait until she came out to make sure she was safe. The party was long, started to get out of hand, and Kassandra still hadn’t emerged. I finally made my way inside quietly, only rendering four or five brothers unconscious, to find her locked in the bathroom upstairs. I knocked out that dickbag Chet, kicked down the bathroom door, and carried her out of there, in the process knocking her unconscious on the bathroom sink.

Aspect:

  • I will be your bodyguard…

Phase Five: Guest Star Redux: Who Else’s Path Have You Crossed?
I’m not a violent guy. Really, I’m not. If anything, maybe I’m a little high-strung. But the Order has two basic rules and they must be followed. Rule One: Guard the bethel at all costs. Rule Two: If someone is a threat, dispose of them permanently – they do not walk away. Either fortunately or unfortunately, the rules do not allow any dispensations or escape clauses for “Only dispatch them if it can be done in private” or “Make super, super sure that they aren’t sorry and won’t vow to leave a life of evil before eradicating them.” The consequences are a separate matter to be dealt with later (and if that requires more extreme methods, well, that’s just what it requires).

Aspect:

  • The consequences of my actions
