Welcome to a land of industrialism run rampant, using the blood of the downtrodden to grease the wheels of progress. Home to Zherisia, an alliance of three smaller city-states and their allied villages, the Shining Bay has been isolated from the world as a whole for much of the last century. Now, as new trade routes open and new ideas flood into the conservative land, the people of the Shining Bay must find a way to bring together the future and the past if they want to survive the present.

Zherisia has reached the industrial revolution and discovered the horrors that come with unchecked technological advancement. Even as “polite society” remains conservative, the lower classes of Zherisia are exploited in industrial mills and factories, while the growing middle class looks down with contempt and up with envy. In the mills and factories, all are equal before the foreman’s lash, interchangeable cogs in the great machinery of industry.

This is the Shining Bay: hope for the future rising from the corpses of the past.
