Bio
Naygel was born the soon of a ropemaker in a small harbour town. During his seventeenth year his town was rocked when an inquisition found witches in the area. Worse still, the witch-cult had targeted members of his family as a suitable sacrifice to their hideous god.
With revenge in his heart the young Naygel swore fealty to the Knights of the Shattered Shield, an order dedicated to helping those less fortunate than themselves and protect them from the depredations of evil cults.
Naygel, a handsome young man, was very popular and other squires found themselves willing to be led by him, allowing him to rise quickly in rank and gaining knight-hood by his twentieth summer.
Hunting witches, though, became an overwhelming focus in his life and when one day he heard a sweet voice offering him power over a particularly tough demonic entity he reluctantly agreed to the voices plan.
“As a herder may sacrifice a sheep to trap a wolf” the voice said, “so may you offer an innocent to trap the demon.” Luring a young bar maid to a lonely haunted chapel he waited patiently for the devil beast. When it lurched from the shadows he launched his attack and calling on the power of the mysterious voice was rewarded with a blast of hellish green flame that eviscerated the foul beast. Unfortunately in the fight the bar maid had been killed. Naygel tried to hide from himself the knowledge that she had been cut down by an errant sword stroke but there are nights when he dreams of her accusing face.
The mysterious voice has rewarded him with the knowledge to conjure witch-fire, something which he hopes will level the playing field againt the evil cults. Naygel believes himself to be strong of mind and to able to control the urgings of the mysterious voice.
