Broad-shouldered, thick framed and flat-chested, Reka cuts an awkward pose. The young woman wears her hair severely braided, as tight as a noose, in one or more lengths. When she smiles or laughs her appearance is transformed from one of sullen suspicion into surprising humor.
The Snake arrived in the City of Ishtaduk as a caravan guard employed by an intrepid dwarven merchant cartel out of Lokkenholm, in Eastern Summan. It took only a single visit to The Colosseum for the young rogue’s mind to be set; The Snake enrolled as a gladiator along with her brother on that very day. Neither of the dwarves even noticed when the merchant caravan rolled out of town without them a week later.
The pair enlisted in The Dar Games, and during the first day they excelled. Reka won three matched pair contests, even escaping injury in the first two and becoming a fast favorite of the crowd. Reka earned the moniker of The Snake during her second bout; she was paired with Smith Khalid and together they faced a pair of fey-kissed Templars from Yhakkoth. Reka had the misfortune to fall into a hidden pit trap, much to the amusement of the bloodthirsty crowd and Khalid was hard-pressed to defend against two opponents. And yet, the young smith not only held his ground but he somehow managed to drive the Templars close enough to the pit’s edge that Reka was able to fling the poisonous snakes she was sharing the pit with up to the arena floor. The snakes literally flew into the melee, one Templar was bitten in the face, while the second suffered so many bites to his legs that he almost died.
Reka climbed free of the pit to find the Templars paralyzed upon the sands, she herself had been bitten twice but her thick Summanian blood had resisted the snake’s poison. The dwarf pried the magical blade from her opponents fingers and turned to face the crowd – Reka, the sellsword was now Reka the Snake and the crowd roared!
