Fade Yanith has Dark Red hair and piercing blue eyes. She wears a robe that lacks sleeves for obvious reasons, that being the metal right arm. her left has a tattoo, a raven standing on a rams skull on the bicep. At first glance she doesn’t seem particularly imposing, She does not work for free and isn’t particularly sway-able when it comes to Sob stories. However she is not heartless and will sometimes do things simply because it appeals to the “child abandoned in the village”. she doesn’t consider herself a brute or a thug, tending to only accept Jobs that involve monsters. She rarely smiles nor seems particularly inclined to talk with others about her past. As far as she’s concerned she’s paid to kill things not communicate with things.
To some who don’t know Fade she can appear cold, almost heartless, but those who get to know her realise that she simply tries to consider things logically. She rarely feels sad about anything, believing it to be just another proof that you can’t survive everything. She never cries about anything, tears won’t bring anyone back as far as she’s concerned. She seems also to have endless patience, though at times even that can be stretched to break. She doesn’t scare easily either, she survived 130 years of war at the side of a powerful wizard, there’s not much that scares you after that.
Originally from a small village in Khorvaire, Her village was destroyed during the last war. Otieak Woodsheart came across Fade hiding in the villages ruins, A Gnome wizard working for the army of Breland. After several casts of what cantrips Fade knew, Woodsheart decided to take her under his wing. Fades life was devoted to the rest of the war, fetching components for her master, fetching soldiers Woodsheart wished to talk with, and in what little spare time they had, training to use magic. During an ambush by an army of Thrane upon the Brelish army with which she and Woodsheart had been assigned, Kurz FellHammer attempted to kidnap the Gnome for his knowledge of elemental binding. A swift warning from Fade, which cost her right arm from the deflected strike gave her master the time to avoid the attempt and escape. Grateful to Fade for her warning Otieak designed a replacement arm for her, which is made of a transmutable metal which can transform from a hand to crossbow. When the war ended, Otieak left the army with Fade, but Fade unable to adjust to a life of peace after so much war went into the business of Wizard for hire, which Woodsheart begrudgingly accepted. He gave her her first spellbook, and the Raven Locke, which Fade had grown interested in after it had begun talking (and promptly was difficult to shut up)
Fade will at times awake with a start, however this is not from memories of the war. The attack on her village was the most scarring of her memories and so recalls them most vividly, she is unaware who the attack was orchestrated by, only that they were fought off by the army of Breland. Many of her engagements involved Thrane and the Silver Flame, and the attacker who severed her arm was a follower of the Silver Flame, and so has a personal distaste for those who serve the Silver Flame.
Fades ultimate goal is to become a Wizard powerful enough to defeat absolutely anything. This selfish goal is what spurred her on during the last war. Every village, town and city that was destroyed, every army that routed was necessary. They were fighting to survive, to live on from one day to the next. Fade believed this even when Cyre was wiped from Khorvaire. equally she feels the same way about any job she takes in the present. She doesn’t care about the plight of her employer, or whether those she has been employed to deal with are fighting to protect there family or bullying the weak for personal gain. They are all doing what’s necessary to survive. Fades goal is not as cruel as it first seems. She eventually wishes to settle down, in a small village of her choosing, and use the ultimate strength she has gained to protect that village from entire armies if she has to, lest it suffer the fate of her home.
DM Bonus: Fades new artificial arm is in all respects identical to the mighty arm graft but without the HP loss associated with it. see replacement arm for details
Current disposition toward party as of end of session 32
Yannar: Lover, Fade and Yannar are in love. They keep each other safe and care for each other as much as possible. Yannar has given Fade a new life, and she trusts him implicitly, so much so that Yannar knows more about her than the other members. They’ve had there ups and downs but Fade desires nothing less than to spend the rest of her life with him.
Renauld: Friend. Fade is still at odds with Renauld, she still finds him too rash in his decision making, but though his reasons for coming to Xen’Drik are unlikely to match up with Fades, she does appreciate his help in this.
Zanros: Remembered, Fade took Zanros’ death hard. Thanks to consoling from Yannar she is now feeling much better about it all but the loss still lingers. she misses him, and probably always will, but it’s not as distracting as it had been.
Edward: Cautious Aquaintance, Fades first meeting of Edward was much less hostile than with the other members of the party, but she still isn’t entirely trusting of his intentions. She is willing to use his skills to the parties advantage, but trust is something that will take time to develop.
disposition to the Party as a whole
With goals to achieve and a complete trust in everyones abilities, Fade is Eager to confront her master and determine where his loyalties lie. She believes that the courage and support she needs will come from her friends when this time comes, and will be there for her whatever the outcome.
