Singe’s travelogue and recipe book.
day 1
Captain Gath has signed a contract of service with a priest of morrow to escort him and his congregation of pilgrims from BainsMarket to Merywyn in LLael, a long journey through Wilderness and khadorian occupied lands. He wishes to retrieve a relic of his faith from the church in Merywyn and take it to a temple in Felig. apparently this is a custom that happens every few years. go figure. though one does wonder where the priest got the money to hire mercenaries for such an extended time.
day 3
Everything is going smoothly though the pilgrims are a bit standoffish, this suits us just fine. Though Valentino Vasco has become quite chummy with one of the pilgrims a Mike Dunn. aristocrats go figure.
On a brighter note the younger travelers seem to have taken to the newest batch of gum that i have cooked up. the root extract has given them a bit more energy then i expected and one of them will not stop running around screaming. kids go figure.
day 5
So far a smooth trip. though we are just approaching less civilized lands. Ted Murderson has noticed some odd behavior from one of the pilgrims, don’t know whats up but I’m sure they will clue me in if its important.
day 7
The fork in the road. we are quickly approaching the Bloodsmeath Marshes and the glimmer wood. I have informed Captain Gath that, though we brought plenty of wooden planks and are prepared to traverse the sodden trail through the marsh, the Glimmerwood road would be a wiser choice. father Arlyn argued on the merits of sticking to the path of the ascendants this pilgrimage, well he is our employer. Priests go figure.
day 10
well we are well into the mosquito invested Mash and no major threats have shown there head so far. We have run into some local trappers and are being led to a village where they are eager to trade and share stories of our travels. Defiantly a festive atmosphere once you get around there odd customs and there ridiculous Swampy accents.
day 13
Well we where well on our way out of the swamp, thanks to some local guides we picked up from some clever trading on the guys part. I don’t remember much from the celebration but apparently there home stilled restoratives are quite potent and my gum went over well. I am fresh out. Have picked up a good variety of local herbs to test out for the next batch.
Day 14
We where attacked by gator men. thank Dhuinah no one died. Miraculously we protected all of our charges. Kell took a pretty hard hit but has recovered, suffering a broken arm. Arlyn did a good job setting the break, it is lucky he rolled with the blow as just a small misstep would have cost him more then a broken arm and a few superficial woulds, but thats why they get paid the big bucks.
day 17
Well we have successfully reached and crossed the border to occupied label. those two idiot brothers Nolo and Tact wanted to sneak across, come to think of it there rhetoric has been quite anti Khador. we better keep them in line or it could be our necks. the guys seem to have it under control though. There also was some curfufle with [[: joann-smyth | Joann Smyth,]] but it seems to be sorted out. National pride go figure.
day 18
Well it turns out we have had a fair amount of not so pious pilgrim with us. Nolo and Tact turned out to be the trouble makers we thought they would be, luckily Nathain put a boot to them good and we got them in check before they could start any trouble. Mike Dunn the guy Vasco was palling around with is a Llaelese noble about on some clandestine shenanigans and Joann seems to be a lot more dangerous then she first appeared. The guys approached her and a bargain was struck which left our pockets quite a bit heavier.
day 21
Have made it to the city. I have stayed with the supplies and wagons while the guys handle their business.
day 23
Well everything went smoothly and we are off to Felig taking a rout through the Thornwood Forest. The rout is not well patrolled but apparently a large caravan with over 60 winter guard has left ahead of us, so most sensible bandits will be laying low. We are looking for other travelers to go with. Rumors of grey lords making a trip soon have surfaced but it is I’ll advised to approach them. We did find a local trader with a small shipment of coal who is willing to pay 50 gold for the safety of traveling with us.
day 25
Well on our way into the Thornwood and already things are not boding well. The merchant is sickly and his horses don’t look so hot either.
day 26
Despite distance put between us and the merchant people are starting have minor health problems and restless sleep. An odd whispering has also been reported coming from the woods.
day 28
The merchants horses have given up the ghost, but in return for coal and fuel we are allowing him to have Smashy our labor jack to pull his cart. Nathan has noticed Gorax markings so we are all on heightened alert.
day 29
Odd things are afoot. On Captain Gath’s watch a wild man emerged from the woods followed by a faint whispering I can only describe as maddening and a smell most foul. He stole some previsions making off with some salted meats. Gath frightened him off and Says he hit the fellow squarely in the shoulder with his pistol but he didn’t slow down.
day 30
Well things went pear shaped today no doubt. The merchant seems to have a Been “unknowingly” transporting Necrotite under his shipment of normal coal and a small amount got into Smashy’s boiler. The machine went nuts and charged one of the children. The wild man that was following us rushed out of the woods most likely with good intentions in his heart. He was an escaped khadoran prisoner strapped to one of those horrid fell blades and though he may have been trying to help he had to be put down.
It turns out the merchant was being paid a great deal to deliver the shipment for a nefarious individual named Darren Shrive, a known Thamarite with a considerable bounty on his head. We left the man on the road with his wagon and no horses, having no more to do with him. Hopefully he gets devoured by Gorax. His fate may have even been cut shorter then that as the priest of morrow stayed behind to have a quick “chat” with the man and when he returned was in a sour disposition.
day 32
We caught up with the khadoran transport. Unfortunately we ran into them just as a trap was closing in, surrounded by soldiers and with shells whizzing over our heads we stayed to he side and successfully negotiated our way into the attackers camp. The aggressors were the Iron-heads a competent and large mercenary company. With a little fast talking from Captain Gath we convinced them we were not a threat to there mission. We told them that a grey lord expedition was behind us and would most likely disturb their operation. We were traded a nomad heavy jack to make sure that didn’t happen. The nomad is a right handful as i have not seen a more destructive and angry mettle beast. no doubt the leader of the Iron-Heads wanted to get it off his hands. still an impressive net gain for us..
day 33
I was sent off to make some noise in the woods to facilitate the ambush on the grey lords. Everything seemed to go well. The came back with a rare book that was deemed to dangerous to sell, so it was left with the Iron-Heads. Oh, and hazard pay for me, score.
day 39
Ambushed by Tharn. Survived. Man I hate the Thornwood Forest.
