Bio
Unless currently recruited for a job, Marcellus is usually found occupying an otherwise empty table in a dimly lit corner of the Gestalt Guild Hall. He can be seen either reading the fortune of some unseen patron or tending to his rather unique rifle.
Dearest Alicia,
You once told me that by burning a letter to someone who has passed, the spirit of the message will reach their spirit in the afterlife. You know I was never particularly spiritual, but the thought of being able to speak with you, even only one way, is enough to make me try.
I was finally able to finish that rifle, using everything you taught me. I poured all my love into it, since you were not here to accept it. I named her after you, a symbol of the passion I still carry for you, as well as my implement of vengeance in your name. One day, I swear to you, I will hunt down that man, and I will make him suffer, and then I will send him to you, so that you may do the same.
You once told me that many men seek solitude, but that none can survive it. I wanted to believe you, but it seems you were wrong, as I am the one surviving. I cannot let myself become attached to another crew, lest the past repeat itself, and I find the weight of even more souls on my shoulders.
But it is hard for a lone renegade to get around, so I have joined Gestalt, a guild – can you believe a guild of all things would let someone like me in? I have begun taking jobs in the city and my people have begun taking note of my marksmanship, though much of it is thanks to the rifle I made with the skills you gave me. She is a sure and steady shot, well balanced and perfectly weighted. Our skills have even gotten us to take a job or two with a couple guild crew’s, though I don’t think I will be joining Ahab again any time soon. His crew is loyal enough, but for reasons far beyond my understanding.
I found myself with much free time, and decided to take up a new craft, fortune-telling, like the Seers you used to love visiting so much. I thought it was a bunch of nonsense at first, but perhaps there is something to this, or perhaps I am simply looking too hard for connections. I do hope you get the chance to read this message, and many to come.
With all my love
-Marcellus
