Chopper is tall, dark, and well-formed, with merry, pale-blue eyes. He keeps his dirty blond hair shorn almost to the scalp and dresses in simple clothes most of the time.
Born in Eleder, capital of the “lost” Chelish colony of Sargava, Chopper grew up around ships, sailors, and even pirates. His mother is a Sargavan colonial and his father a Mwangi (Ijo). He spent equal time with each of his parents’ peoples during his youth, which helped him strike a balance between his wild heart with civilized society.
The only part of civilization that did not sit well with him was the virtual enslavement of the Mwangi by the Sargavan colonists. His mother explained to him that the tolls collected by the Pirate Council of The Shackles for their “protection” of the colony forced this socioeconomic situation. This turned him on to the idea of getting Sargava out from under the thumb of the pirates, and it occurred to him that his skills might allow him to infiltrate their ranks and find some way to undermine their authority from within.
Boisterous, jolly, and kind, Chopper really doesn’t fit in well with most pirates. He’s a good sailor and competent at most shipwork. He can be sarcastic, and is quick to joke and/or flirt with the ladies, though he doesn’t have great success. When riled to anger, his demeanor changes and coupled with his size and strength, he can be pretty scary.
