Threads of Fate

“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose in the Mountains of Mist. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.”

The year is 998 of the New Era (NE), a time of relative peace in the world, a time three thousand years since the Breaking of the World, where the most powerful magic-users were tainted by the influence of the Dark One, the antithesis of the Creator and source of untold evil and corruption. Since that time, the world has been forged and reforged; nations rose and fell, and mighty men and women walked the earth and have been buried beneath it. Many of the horrors facing humankind since the Breaking of the World, Trollocs and other Shadowspawn have faded into legend, and have been unseen in the south since the Trolloc Wars ended nearly two thousand years ago. In the small village of Emond’s Field in the south of Andor, events are beginning to unravel which threaten the fate of the world, and even that of the Wheel of Time.

Welcome to the Threads of Fate, a campaign co-DM’d by Eli and Robin, that begins using the foundations of Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series. If you are familiar with the WoT books, you may recognize the names of characters or places, and perhaps even elements of the story, but Jordan’s wonderfully complete world is merely serving as a foundation for our campaign.

This is a lower-level campaign, but the sky is the limit. We’re hoping that this setting will make for a wonderful campaign, and grow even past that.

To this end, we’d like to use Obsidian Portal as a place for common knowledge, to keep track of previous adventures, and to update and grow as the campaign progresses and the world unravels itself.

As always, feel free to email Eli or Robin if you have any questions or comments, otherwise, we look forward to throwing some dice!
