Wiki
I thought this would be a good place to start a thread about how we see the wiki being used and hammer out any procedures we want put in place for updating the wiki.
For example, I made note in my character description that Military Mages use a Military Lance to cast spells. This could go in a number of areas in the Wiki: Items (Obsidian Portal element), Equipment (wiki page) and Declarations (wiki page). I was thinking of it this way: Add it as a type of Item, then reference it in the other pages (this could be an argument for moving the Vanguard Shield to Items and then referencing it from a common Equipment page).
Starting down this line, it would make sense to start fleshing out the Military Mages, who could be listed in declarations, but also get their own page.
Please share your thoughts.
I’ve never used a wiki extensively, so if you have tricks you’ve learned I’m all ears. I’ve liked a lot what connections you’ve done so far, so keep at it and I’ll follow your lead.
I read OP’s post on what the Item screen is now and what it is supposed to
be. I’m not sure putting things in the Items now will work if they have
plans to change it, so I say we go with the approach that you put forward
with the Vanguard Shield. I’ll try to mock it up for the Military Lance and
the Military Mage elements I was talking about (I got some cool ideas for
the Military Mage that I’ll put into the forum first so we can kick them
around). Feel free to reign me in if I go too far.
There is no going too far. :-)
Are you posting from your iPad? Your posts come with smaller margins, almost pre-formatted as such:

Normally that would wordwrap, but your posts have hard returns. Strange.
I’m replying by email. Must be a function of that. I’ll leave the header
info in so you can see below:

Yeah, must be the email. I’m replying at the site. Ok, mystery solved.
Ok, so I had some time to read Ken’s article on play by Wiki. There was some good stuff there, but some that doesn’t apply to OP. Primarily where he talks about the talk/discussion page. OP doesn’t have that, but it does have this forum.
So, I propose that if we want to discuss something on one of the pages, we start a forum thread named the same as the page. This will give us a place to discuss the topic at length without doing a lot of editing and formatting of the page. We hash it out here and then we decide what gets changed in the page and update it accordingly.
I’m also thinking that Ken’s templates for various types of pages works well. OP doesn’t really have the category and section types of pages, but we can easily build those manually. As time permits we can start switching pages over to those templates, that is, if you like that idea. I’m open to discussing the layout further it that is important to you.
Thoughts?
I like the page/forum thread idea. I’d like to use as much as possible what OP provides to cut down on extraneous work that takes away from our play. We’ll start and see what we need as we go along.
Got it.
