Shilani is 18 years old and stands 5’4” high. She has a toned, muscular body and her skin is lightly tanned and smooth, but not without scars. She has long sable hair and eyes so dark they look like puddles of oil. While not physically beautiful, she often has a smirk on her face that gives her a certain degree of charm.
Interaction with others:
Shilani averts her eyes often when she speaks to people, giving her a bit of a shy air to her demeanor. She does not speak often but when she does seeks to resolve conflict and gives her opinions briefly. In short, she does not mince words. She fights in the same way, intensely and calculated without a great deal of flair. Shilani is all about precision and efficiency.
No one knows exactly where Shilani came from. She showed up to the gates of the Shinu Alani Monastery when she was around 5 years old, dirty and bruised, seeking shelter and guidance. Taken in by the brothers, she was named Shilani, as a way to honor the monastery. The brothers were surprised with how quickly she mastered her skills, and she showed a preternatural grace with each of the skills she learned. She was always a quiet child, easy to make smile but impossible to make laugh. She never seemed uncomposed, though there were rumors of her having fierce nightmares and filling the monastery with frightened screams. These remain only rumors. Shilani was soon besting the most disciplined of the brothers at Shinu Alani and when she was about 14, she took to traveling to other monasteries to learn more. Her thirst for self-improvement and knowledge have always driven her and eventually the outside world called to her so fiercely that she was unable to stay. When she turned 16, the brothers said their goodbyes to her and wished her the best in her travels. Though she has now explored many areas of the world, she comes back to Shinu Alani to pay respects to the men who helped save and shape her life.
Shilani seeks self-improvement in all endeavors. Though she is not generally forthcoming with the details of her travels, she does speak often of bettering herself.
Shilani has a great interest in other people and seeks to learn their ways. Though she wishes to better her fighting skills in combat, she enjoys meeting others and discovering everything she can about other races and groups of people.
There are some who, believing the rumors of nightmares from the monastery, think she is seeking to right a past injustice. Perhaps, they speculate, one that drove her to Shinu Alani and left her an orphan. Shilani does not openly discuss this, and few people (if any) have dared to ask.
