Kaelan (Kai-Leong in native)Adept of the martial arts school of Devil Hand. Notorious for bastardizing maneuvers and techniques from other schools to create one extremely lethal style. This school is widely despised by others and has gathered ill reputation because of it’s draconian discipline, creed and graduates often becoming notorious assassin-monks. Inherent among the acolytes is the sense of elitism. They often consider their style superior to all others. What brings Kaelan to Veon is a myth of a scroll of an all powerful fighting style – God Hand (by legacy of which Devil Hand was named. Idea was it being second only to the God Hand) taken from eastern lands by its illusive and selfish founder to be hidden in western lands so that only those worthy may find it. Kaelan seeks to pursue the myth in hopes of assimilating the style into his own hoping to create one perfectly flawless style capable of shaking fear into gods themselves. Or so the myth says. That is Kaelan’s ultimate ambition. A more minor goal is to make a permanent living in Kyndale for it proves to be safer than his homeland. Far away from persecution and ill reputation of his school in a land more ignorant of his origins with no traces of any of his relatives. He managed to gather some attention to himself in Aeroch Nor when a captain of the local Guard was coaching a few guardsmen in the middle of the town’s square for amusement of the people. Kaelan stepped up to the captain explaining fundamental flaws in his combat style – swings being too wide making them predictable, half-pirouette leaving his left flank completely open and the inconsistent high-guard. Feeling his honor undermined captain challenged Kaelan to a duel tossing him a nearby blade. Kaelan tossed the blade aside saying he will have no need of it. Infuriated captain began the fight. Kaelan gracefully evaded each attack, moving like water between each swing. For every combination evaded Kaelan struck a resounding slap at captain’s face leaving captain. This humiliating display left the captain boiling with anger. Eventually in fury and his exhaustion as no blows seemed to land his target his guard began to slip completely. This is when Kaelan masterfully performed a diving roll between captain’s legs. From his back Kaelan pulled his right ankle in the air sending captain crushing to the ground. Still holding the prone captain by the ankle Kaelan put his foot on captain’s shoulder blades and did a small bow to both his adversary and the crowd. Crowd was impressed and cheered him on while the guard captain was left angry and humiliated.
