Jubal is a gypsy halfling who grew up around the edges of Absalom.
Jubal’s father was Halmon, a “taker” for the local guild, meaning a pure thief rather than a participant in any of the guild’s many rackets, except to the extent that many jobs were organized on inside information provided by guild contacts. Skilled and respected, but always an outsider due to race, Halmon raised Jubal on the same path.
Though lately augmenting his income through tomb raiding, adventuring, and general troubleshooting for rich patrons, Jubal retains his connections.
Jubal follows a code of sorts, being loyal to his friends and to his guild. He is reluctant to steal from those who can’t afford the loss—meaning the rich—and after all they have the money anyway. He is also loyal to anyone who employs his services, even if it becomes inconvenient.
