During the voyage toward Ptolus a youth occasionally dances for the passengers in the ale-house of the ship. He even occasionally makes a few coppers as, despite his youth, he appears to have had some training. When dancing he wears leather pants and a loose fitting shirt open at the neck through which you can see the edges of two tattoos. He appears to be in his mid teens, clean shaven (or perhaps does not shave at all) with medium length dark brown hair and startling sea green eyes. He is of medium height and weight with a slight muscular build. He has a ready smile and moves with a fluid grace.

You never see him except during his infrequent performances and it is a while before you realize that he is a crew member; one that works high up in the rigging. When on duty he wears leather armor and wears a wicked looking curved knife on his belt; you also notice the hilts of two daggers protruding from his boots. After a few performances he starts to have an ale afterwards.

It is then you learn that his name is Veric, he hails from the Sea Kingdoms although he is not sure where he was born. He is an orphan that was found by a Sea Kingdom whaler after a storm and raised by the whaler’s sister before going to sea with his adoptive father. He does not speak of them much and you get the impression that they are both dead and he misses them a great deal. He seems particularly intrigued with the stories of Ptolus and expresses an interest in finding, as he puts it, “Excitement!” in Ptolus. He claims that he is handy with a rapier and reasonably athletic.
