Risa grew up traveling the world with her parents and working with them on archeology digs. They were working on a site in Japan for about 3 years when she unknowingly picked up a cursed amulet, and became the vessel to an ancient and fierce dragon. The village elder explained to her the powers she now possesses, and the cost of calling upon the dragon inside her. She later learned that the elder’s family had been the ones to forge the amulet and seal away the dragon, and has since been acting as protectors of it. As a reminder of her powers, the elder crafted a necklace for her. (a small glass vial filled with sand from the site, being clutched by a dragon’s claw)

At the age of 13, and now cursed, her parents sent her back to the states and to Arizona to attend Ultraman Metahuman Academy (UMA), a government run school for 6th grade and higher where they train super powered children to control their powers.

Thrown into the middle of a 7th grade class, and out of anything she has ever known to be normal, she closed herself off from the rest of her classmates. She quickly formed an archeology club to at least keep hold on some part of her original life.

After an incident in English after her first month at UMA, Risa has since grown to hate a fellow classmate with a passion, Rob Gavion. Her great dislike for him grows from the fact that all the other girls always seem to be fawning over him. (i.e. he had love control, and she was immune to it) However, despite all of her anger at him, secretly she actually developed a large crush on him, because she sees the person he is when he’s not being a conceded jerk. Risa still has yet to even realize how she really feels.

Now in the 9th grade, and slowly making friends with some of the new students, she has become part of a small group (of which Rob is apart of).
