Spell casters can be divided into 3 camps- the divine who also draw elemental magic as well as magic from the gods themselves, the arcane whose history and teachings have been influenced by the hengyokai and other fey, the arcane who have learnt demonic secrets and are often possessed to some extent. All 3 do things that are contrary to their confessed goals, have power that represents the vested interests of others and the death of any of them can result in consequences for the slayer.
