An overeager young halfling whom the party met on the road to Cyneburga. Although he was previously apprenticed to a wizard, it seems he has the sorceror's gift, and is much more effective at using magic intuitively rather than from a spellbook. He is currently staying with his uncle.

 Roland has not yet reached the age of maturity, and is thus short, even for a halfling. He has light brown hair that has grown long during his flight from the plague. The road has not treated him well, and he appears somewhat thin and scruffy.
