Description

The notorious organization known as the Assassins Guild came into power over 12 years ago when the fire countries 5th Hokage was Assassinated by Kotetsu Moon, a powerful shinobi from Kumogakure. On the day of the 5th's death, the leader of the Assassins Guild known only at that time as "The Ascended One", made his first public appearance shrouded in black garments. In the center of Daggerdale, he made a spectacle of the Hokage's funeral by igniting his corpse and reducing his body to ashes. This act marked the beginning of a new regime, and the rule of a new government.

Its original members consisted of seven distinguished shinobi.

  • The Ascended One (Kage Lvl)

The Ascended One, later revealed to be Zephaniah, the grandson of the powerful demigod Mavrocite, cast an ominous presence over Konoha with his silent leadership and calculating rule. One of the distinguishing traits between he and his grandfather however was The Ascended One's ability to control fire, while his grandfather was known for his mastery over the water element. A difference in elemental control wasn't the only difference. There was a notible difference in power. Although Zephaniah was on par with a kage, his power never rivaled that of Mavrocite's and he knew this. This promted him to  devise a plan that would involve the resurrection of the Amori, in which he would assume control over their power. Perhaps his greatest flaw was the trust he'd instilled within Deus. He'd raised Deus from the age of 5 as his own. As a father and teacher, he tought Deus the fundamentals of combat and by the time Deus reached the age of 13 he'd evolved into a brilliant strategist and a very capable user of magic. Zephaniah helped him perfect his craft and solidified his role as a power player. However, he never predicted what would happen in the years to come. Perhaps he'd become soft and even a bit naive in raising Deus.

Zephaniah's exact origins are unknown, as are many details of his life. Many rumors lead to speculation of Zephaniah's involvement with the Red Wizards several years ago where he was believed to be one of the Eight ranking leaders. Each of the eight, specialized in a school of magic and while it is unknown what school Zephaniah specialized in, it is believed that it wasn't fire. None knew the full extent of his power or came closer than Deus, to witnessing his complete potential. During their battle, Zephaniah used a technique involving a green mist, that burned a hole right through Deus's chest. Deus was able to regenerate his wounds thanx to the stolen power of The Amori, but the wound constantly deteriorated as if being eaten away by acid. This was perhaps the key to Varin's victory over Deus, as his power was constantly being consumed by the need to restore his wound.

This led many to believe that The Ascended One had truly reached another plateau of power by unlocking the secrets to a new element. Even so, it was not enough to stifle the power that had been attained by Deus and The Ascended One parished under his onslaught.

  •  Deus Azar (Jounin Lvl)

Ranking 1st in command under the leadership of "The Ascended One", Deus is credited for much of the Assassin Guilds success. One of his primary roles as the 1st in command was to create tactical battle strategies to carry out against the enemy including stealth assassinations, infiltration coordination and assigning teams (which were most often groups of two). His ability to break down every possible variable of a mission superceeded every other Jounin lvl ninja in fire country that before long people began to fear him even more so than the Ascended One because of his intelligence. Kensou, a former teammate and pupil of Dues once stated that he'd never felt such discomfort as when Deus looked into his eyes. He stated that it seemed as if he was peering into his very soul, searching through every thought in his mind. Others have stated more of the same type of occurances insinuating that Deus possessed some type of psionic ability dealing with hypnosis.

Because of this experience, Kensou never looked into his eyes without having the sharingan activated. Kensou learned very early of the sharingan's hypnotic abilities and used them as a counter measure to whatever secret power Deus may have been using. Behind closed doors, kensou revealed this information to Varin (2nd in command), and his fellow teammate Wren, who also possessed the sharingan bloodline. And for the first time, the roles had been switched. Deus, who always seemed so adamently suspicious of Varin, had now become the subject of concern. Soon, this concern became a widespread issue in the Assassin's Guild leading to an altercation between the two. Varin, in one of his infamous rants accused Deus of hiding something and using mind influence on members of the Guild.

The uproar would be settled by Amaravati, who intervened before the situation came to blows. But the animosity between the two brewed deep within and would manifest itself 3 years later when Deus finally revealed his true motives.

  • Varin Vash (Jounin Lvl)

2nd in command, Varin was mostly known for his vicious combat skill and explosive emotions. Always eager to take action and settle things quickly. Perhaps none made an impact on Wren, like Varin. His relentless attitude and prowess as a shinobi are what my have inspired Wren the most. Ironically, Kensou took a liking to the character and  tactics of Deus. Of all those suspicious of Deus, Varin was the one most open about his feelings leading to various  disagreements between the two. Varin's complete mastery over the Bojutsu style of martial arts made him a formidable foe in combat. But his ruthless code of honor and brutal battle strategy made him dangerous, and a constant concern for Deus and The Ascended One. During a mission given by Deus, Varin and his team (Wren, Kensou, and Raven) were ambushed just outside of the castle walls. The attack left Varin in a comatose state when he intervened saving the lives of his students, with three broken ribs, a fractured spine and a shattered right arm. Varin would recover a short time later with the help of a psion named Calbane, who used his telepathic abilities to force himself inside the mind of Varin and induce his subconscious to return.

Upon Varin's return to the guild, Deus put in motion the final plans of his devious plan. Varin, Wren, kensou and Raven would all come to realize the true goal Deus sought after. While on a mission ordered by Deus (using the Ascended One as leverage), to assassinate a self-proclaimed reincarnate of a powerful wizard named Obakai, the team learned of Deus's plan to resurrect the powers of the five members of the Amori (disciples of the powerful sorcerer Mavrocite.) Obakai had in fact been a reincarnate searching for pieces of an artifact that would resurrect the Amori's spirits.

Deus would intervene, confirming Obakai's story and taking advantage of the weakened fighters. As he stood in victory holding the final piece of the artifact, he revealed himself to be an avatar of Mavrocite sent to help reinstate his reign. Deus would also reveal one final piece of information. He would remove the mysterious veil surrounding The Ascended One's identity exposing him as the grandson of Mavrocite.

Departing, Deus would go on to successfully complete the summoning and evoke the power of the Five Amori members. His left eye would fade into a misty red haze reminiscent of the Amori clans eyes. Using his newly aqcuired power, he would wage war usurping the power and throne of "The Ascended One", killing him in battle. Their battle left  perminent scar on Fire Countries soil and killed over 300 citizens. Deus's reign as the new leader of the Assassin's Guild and ruler of fire country would however be short lived after an assault from the combined efforts of Varin, Wren, Kensou, Raven and The Saints of Babylon. It would be Varin, who would deliver the final blow shattering Deus's life and with it, the return of a Demigod.

  • Amaravati (Chunin Lvl)

For a Tiefling, she held a gentle spirit and calm demeanor always thinking rationally. Though she was third in command, Amaravati provided the balance needed to the leadership of the Guild. Her ruthlessness on the battlefield rivaled that of Varin's and so did her personality. Deus once stated that Amaravati had the potential to be a great leader but her obsession with hunting down her older sister, (Aarwin) took presidence over everything needed to achieve that goal. Quick to anger whenever her sisters name was mentioned, Amaravati often put the goals of The Ascended One behind her own ambitions. This would lead to her traveling often and disappearing for weeks at a time before Deus eventually confronted her and threatened to resign her position within the guild.

Deus's threat was enough to bring Amaravati back to where she needed to be mentally, at least for a time. She carried out several successful missions upon her return to the guild and solidified her placement as a Guild leader. But, while on a mission to track down a mercenary named Xander Stone from Iwagakure's hidden Rock Village her emotions would once again take a step over the line. Amaravati along with Raven and Deus mounted a direct attack against Xander and his team in the Forest of Shadows. Deus had calculated every outcome and strategically broken down the tactics of their enemy. Victory was assured, until something happened. An event Deus could not have possibly foreseen. As his group prepared for their return to Konoha, the person Xander and his team had been tracking surfaced. From the deep forest emerged Aarwin, with a band of Drow cohorts.

Amaravati could feel the deep-seeded hatred stirring in the pit of her stomach. Upon seeing this, Deus ordered the team to retreat but it was too late. His orders fell on deaf ears as Amaravati stood 40 feet from her sister and drew her sword. Raising it high into the air she charged into battle cutting her way through several of the drow all the while, keeping her eyes dead-locked on Aarwin. As Raven prepared to rush back into battle Deus raised his arm stopping her.

Deus: "Let her go…"

Raven: "We can't just leave her here to fight all of them."

Deus: "We've got what we came for… the risk of losing it all now is too great! She's completely in a zone. Nothing you or I say will get through to her!! .....She's on her own now."

Fighting back tears, Raven fled alongside Deus as the sight of the sisters swords clashing was the last thing seen peering back from their escape. This was the last time Amaravati was seen. The majority of the Guild believed that she'd perished in that battle, chasing her obsession to the grave.

  •  Raven Blackwind (Genin Lvl-beginning/Jounin Lvl-end)

A practicioner of sorcery, Raven was the final piece to a three-man cell that has to date, been the most successful 3-man team within fire country. Though her rank within the guild was officially a chunin by the time the seperation of the Assassin's Guild took place, her advancement in the study of magic had pushed her power lvl to that of a kage. She possesseed the ability to take a minor spell and transform it into a A-S class technique. Unfortunately, the natural ability to increase the power of spells could not be controlled and at times her chakra would rage out of control leaving her drained and vulnerable & often put her teammates. It was because of this flaw in her attack pattern that Deus removed her from the original team and assigned her to a three-man cell with teammates Kensou and Wren. Two shinobi who had the ability to control and supress their chakra patterns with ease. He hoped that the two would help her control her chakra and keep her explosive powers in check.

As a means to help supress her ability, Kensou and Wren took it upon themselves to teach her the art of swordmanship, figuring that an alternative offensive skillset would aid her in the effort to contain the power that raged within. For a time it appeared to work. That was until the team was dispatched to the mountains for an Assassination mission on one of the Duergar tribe leaders. The plan went wrong when the teams presence had been discovered by one of the dwarven scouts. The discovery led to a chase through the underground dwarven city. Of the three, Wren was the fastest and raced ahead to clear a path. When Kensou and Raven caught up, they found Wren surrounded by the legendary fighters known as The Dwarven Defenders.

With nowhere left to run and reinforcements on the way, it became a battle for survival.

Kensou: "RAVEN!!... WE NEED A WAY OUT!!"

Forming a small orb of raw energy no larger than a foot in diameter, she hurled it through one of her enemies chest and into one of the large support pillars. The tactic worked as she cleared a path to the exit. But in the final moments of their escape Kensou was caught off guard by a bullrush attack from two of the Defenders that sent him careening into another support pillar. As Wren rushed to Kensou's aid helping him to his feet, the ceiling above the eastern district of the underground city began to give way. As pieces of debris began falling to the ground Raven rushed to the other side of Kensou throwing his other arm around her neck. The Dwarven Defenders were determined however, to stop them from escaping and rushed them once more.

Wren had seen enough.

Wren: "BRING IT!!"

Forming a series of handseals he reeled back taking in a huge breath of air…

Wren: "KATON!!!!..... GOKAKYOU NO JUTSU!!!!"

Leaning forward he released a massive blast of fire from his mouth that gathered in the form of a 22 ft. tall ball of fire. (Matrix effect) As several of the dwarves rushed to escape the path of the attack, Wren turned his back just as one of the Defenders Leaped through the fire wave shield first, and encased with a lightblue aura of energy. As he descended through the air drawing back with his right hand equipped with a morning star Wren startled, turned to face his attacker as Raven's eyes widened with fear. The Dwarven Defender landed a mighty blow that sent Wren hurling through the air landing on his back. Raven's power surged to the surface and manifested itself in the form of a third eye and a black spiritual cloak. As the third eye, filled with blackness manifested, her other two eyes closed.

Her aura alone produced enough energy that objects around her began to disintegrate into particles. As Raven stood amidst the Gang of dwarven warriors Varin and Deus arrived on the scene. Uncertain of her mental state, Deus attempted to probe her mind telepathically and found himself in an empty field of darkness. In the distance stood  a figure shrouded in shadow as Deus moved closer to it. Proceeding with caution he came within 10ft of the figure before uttering a word.

Deus: "Raven….."

Receiving no answer he attempted to move in and grasp her shoulder. His touch unleashed a wave of powerful  memories and emotions that came flooding through his mind. Locked in place he attempted to pull away only to receive a psionic blast to the head bringing him to his knees and back to the physical plane. Reviving the others, Varin led them to the escape route leaving Deus to fend for himself. Deus described the confrontation with the entity as eerie and disturbing.

Although Deus eventually made it back to the guild with Raven alive, he did so without the use of his psionic powers. His encounter with Raven's dark alter ego severed whatever telepathic ability he possessed. His condition would eventually worsen leaving him with headaches and painful flashes of disturbing images and memories. He never told anyone just how he escaped with Raven that day nor has he made mention of the incident other than his initial report filed upon his return.

As for Raven, the event left her in a comatose state in which to this day, she has yet to recover from. Her body is being cared for and monitered by the high priests and clerics of Shar and is believed to be located in Waterdeep where her former teammates visit her from time to time.
