Fame and glory are what Malkus wants the most, and adventuring is the fastest path to both. The fact that treasure and excitement abound is just icing on the cake. Malkus is only out for himself, but he skill with the bastard-sword provides much of the party's melee punch, and occasionally his heroic act is good enough to inspire his compatriots in battle- even if they should know better.
