Major Asahara is 1/4 Japanese, inheriting her name from her grandfather who emigrated to the U.S. in the early 1900’s. She is a student of Japanese culture, language and technology. She graduated from the Air Force Academy with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, specializing in Cryptography and with a minor in Foreign Languages.

Major Asahara was recruited to Stargate Command about a year before the campaign begins, and has been part of SG-15 for half of that time. She was listed as MIA after an ambush on the planet known as P4X-347, where SG-15 was supposed to meet with a defector from Baal’s forces. She was revived by the Goa’uld Valesh and met up with SG-9 as they were heading home from trade negotiations on P2X-005.

Asahara rejoined SG-15 at the Alpha Site, much to their surprise, and she managed to convince the team and General Wycliffe that Valesh was their ally.
