Bio
Kort is tall for a Dwarf at 5 feet. He appears long and lean for his race, although he is strong and fit (and maybe a little bit hyper). His hair and beard are a dark gray color, like almost all of his family, and he keeps them closely trimmed, as opposed to the more traditional length (the result of a burning hands spell to the face). His face is seamed and tanned from years above the ground and his right eye is a pale blue that might be considered gray. His left eye, when uncovered glows with a magical light about as bright as a candle. Thin wisps of bitter smoke issue forth from it. He currently wears a silver rimmed oval of smoky crystal to cover it.
(On the first page of this worn leatherbound journal is written the following):
(In Common)
“To Whomever finds this journal:
Be it known that I am Kortegmag Greywhisker of the Steelbeard Clan, fourth son to Nazdrel Greywhisker of The Deep Caverns. If you find this, return it, and any news of myself, to the Steelbeard Clan and you will be rewarded.”
(In Dwarven)
“This is my story: I was born the fourth son to Nazdel Greywhisker, Smith and Jeweler. As he already had sons enough to follow his trade, he apprenticed me to his family to become a Warrior. Through years of training, which have been recorded elsewhere, I passed the exacting standards of my people and was gifted by my father with armor and an Axe, blessed by the priests of Moradin. At that time I was sent upon my journey, to distinguish myself as a Warrior and to follow Moradin’s path for me.
After a week of fasting and prayer, I heard the words whispered to me, ‘In the cauldron boils trouble enough. Outside your home lies your path. Amongst the other races, both kind and gruff, seek you there for your worth.’ Shortly thereafter, I set forth from my home and entered the world of Men.
My previous Journals have detailed the places and people I have met over the decades as well as the battles and wars I have fought in. These I have returned to my Home that my people might know what has become of their son.”
