Silas was travelling to Farshore in order to help his brother’s pottery there. After studying early Olman pottery they were impressed by the quality of the local clay, and firing techniques so decided to establish a clayworks and pottery in the region in order to produce and export fine pottery, and ceramic wares.

His brother Greffold known as “redfoot” due the clay permanently on his shoes took his family to Farshore when the Vanderboren’s originally set up the colony.
