Bio
Jessica Miller is the fourth of five daughters to Loren Miller, a relatively well-to-do farmer. Jessica is short, squat, and frighteningly strong due to a childhood of wrangling wayward goats.
When she expressed a desire to join the local militia rather than get married when she came of age, her father had absolutely no objection – it meant one less dowry he had to scrape together. Some of the soldiers objected, but it was due to her agrarian upbringing, not her gender. Jessica never let herself be goaded into a “real fight”, but some of the boys would occasionally try to block her way to getting gear out of the storerooms or try to interpose themselves so she would be late reporting for duty, taunting her with suggestions that she instead go milk cows or feed chickens. She quickly demonstrated that young men aren’t that much more difficult to wrangle than goats, and once or twice she simply charged forward and knocked her challengers flat with a devastating shoulder-check. It was then she was dubbed “Toro”, the Olman word for “bull”.
For the most part her peers became more accepting of her, but Toro began to grow tired of militia work, and wished to start taking the fight to the danger itself. So she bade farewell to her family and struck out, determined that any danger that dared stand in her way would soon be knocked flat.
