Bio
Died fighting his Grog, his adopted son turned death knight. It was a Pyrrhic victory.
Boris “Hawkeye” Hammerfist is one of those self-hating dwarves, who longs for the days of ancient times when dwarves were still in touch with their primal instincts. In his youth, Boris was abandoned by his tribe at the bottom of a canyon due to his innate hatred of what technology has done to the dwarven race. In his youth, Boris wandered the wildnerness with his human mentor Joachim Thorne as part of Joachim’s constant schemes to undermine tree loggers and mining companies. He gained quite a reputation for himself and was referred to by many as the eco-warrior “Hawkeye”. However, upon discovering a young abandoned goliath child simply known as Grog, Boris settled down and raised the goliath as his own and taught him in the ways of the wild as well as the ways of face smashing. Boris is also accompanied by his best friend Mhal Garaz – a mean-spirited, face-smashing, helluva-craghammer.
Two years ago Boris was encouraged by the semi-retired Joachim to join the legion of the jade lynx as his pseudonym “Hawkeye”. Though Hawkeye’s sharp tongue gets him in trouble with some of the leadership of the legion, Hawkeye is known for his exceptional devotion to defending his comrades and will often volunteer to take the most dangerous of missions.
- Appearance/Origins
- What is your given name?
- Boris Hammerfist
- Is your given name commonly known? If it is a secret, to whom is it known?
- yes, but more known by nickname
- Do you have a nickname? If yes, how did you get it?
- Hawkeye, it’s best not to ask
- Do you know who your parents are? If yes, what kind of relationship do you have with them? If no, do you want to or are you trying to find out who they are?
- my parents…they are your standard fare dwarf. probably still running the rock quarry our family has for generations.
- What was your childhood like? Do you know where you were born?
- very dull and boring. I chose to leave my miserable existance in my home country of Igar Hedis at the age of 10.
- Do you know how old you are?
- well if you go by the cycle of the moons, I would estimate somewhere around 40.
- Many people join mercenary companies to escape their past. Why did you join a mercenary company?
- sometimes i wonder that myself, but then my urge to bash some skulls takes over.
- How did you earn living before joining the mercenary company?
- mostly as a wondering mercynary (that’s how you humans spell it right?) protecting various outlying forest communities from bandits and the like. did i mention I like bashing skulls?
- What is your hair style and hair color?
- in the name of Moradin, why don’t you look up from that ledger and you’ll see. long bright red hair shaved except for a mohawk and my ponytail braided with the bones of my enemies. I generally keep my beard trimmed due to the tendancy for small rodents to make camp there.
- Do you have any scars? Tattoos? Birthmarks? If yes, where and how did you get them (except the birthmarks)? Do they have any special meaning to you?
- any respectable warrior has their fair share of scars. while i am fan of tattoos in general, i am content to cover my face in the blood of infernal beasts. perhaps I could be convinced if you think it would help me get in touch with my primal instincts.
- What is the first thing people notice about you?
- most would tell you my charming personality ofcourse. well that and my unusually short stature for a dwarf. oh and maybe the fact that i’m NOT covered head to toe in dwarven plate. all that metal is bad for the skin you know, causes these massive rashes and the like. most dwarves are too embarressed to mention it. why do you think we cover ourselves with our beards?
- Personality
- What is your personality like? What are your motivations?
- some say i’m overly cranky for a dwarf. i say “try being punted by your clan to the bottom of a canyon just because you are fascinated with the idea of returning to the ways of our ancestors”
- Do you have any taboos or superstitious beliefs? What are they? What are the consequences of breaking/ignoring them?
- technology is not our friend. guns go against the natural of things. ok ok well i do have one weakness. i just love airships. zipping throught he air at high speeds, the wind in your beard. oh excuse me I got carried away. hey look i’m a dwarf not a deva. no one’s perfect.
- Do you have any unique mannerisms or rituals that you perform on regular basis? What are they?
- nah not really. points to the orc corpse nearby are you gonna eat that?
- What are you afraid of? Do you have any phobias? Why are you afraid of them?
- some say i am afraid of living.
- How well do you work with others?
- I work great with others. as long as they aren’t dwarves, elves, eladrin, gnomes, halflings, hu….
- What do you do for enjoyment when you have time off?
- skinning, tanning, and curing the hides of slain enemies. after all my armor doesn’t fix itself.
- Do you have any vices? What are they?
- vices are for the weak of body and soul. keep your liquor and smokes to yourselves.
- How religious are you?
- I believe in the natural order of things. i have no problems with the gods per say, but my worship of them will not control them or persuade them in any way.
- Are there certain things that you refuse to do? Why will you not do them?
- i refuse to fit in with normal society. fair enough?
- In Your Opinion…
- What do you see your class/role as (such as instead of being a ranger you are a “wilderness scout” or a “stealthy warrior highly skilled with two swords”)?
- I am a defender of my ancestor primal ways, both in reality and in spirit.
- How do you feel about own race? How do you feel about other races? Are you prejudiced against any of them? Why?
- look at me man! I’m a #$@@$## dwarf! I hate almost every race, including my own.
- How do you feel about slavery? Why?
- I am not a fan of it, but any fool who would willingly be owned by another is weak in my mind. better to die as a free man, than to live in disgrace and dishonor.
- Relationships/Associations
- Describe three people that are close to you, such as close family, loved ones, or close friends. Who are they? What do they mean to you? Do you know where they are? Are they still alive?
- Joachim Thorne is one of the few humans i respect. He too believes in the primal ways of his ancestors, and though he haphazardly crusades against the human’s path towards destruction, he is an able warrior and one I can trust to guard my flank. he’s the one who convinced me to interview for a spot in your famous “adventuring company”
- Grog is a proud, young goliath warden from the mountains. Though twice my size, he looks at me with nothing short of utmost respect and admiration. I even suspect he looks to me as a mentor. He’s been following me since I found him as a toddler wandering along the mountains probably abandoned as part of some internal struggle for dominance within his clan. He would also make a worthy addition to your troops.
- Mhal Garaz is my noble, sturdy hammer, and he rarely leaves my side. He doesn’t talk much though and seems content to simply bash skulls.
- Describe three associates that you know, people that would help you as long as it doesn’t put them in too much danger or people who owe you favors for example. How did you meet them? How much do you trust them? If they owe you favors, how did you gain those favors?
- As I have lived mostly in the untamed wilderness nearly my entire life, I have few business contacts or associates.
- Describe three enemies or rivals that you have made. These may be people who simply want you dead, or they might be rivals who just want to best you or swordplay or eating doughnuts. However these are people that will go to great lengths to get in your way. What did you do to cross these people in the first place? How much do you know about them, if anything? Do you even know that you crossed them? What are they capable of (even if your character doesn’t know)?
- I don’t think i have many living enemies to be honest with you. I have made something of a name for myself as Hawkeye in some of Joachim’s ecofriendly crusades though…
- Other
- What is the name of your Legacy Weapon? What meaning does it hold to you? How did you acquire it/how did it come to be? Does it have any history? Do you know what is its history?
- though it demeans him to be referred to simply as a weapon, Mhal Garaz is my closest ally and we have seen many a battle together. I don’t really know how I came to meet him, it just seems like one day I awoke and there he was. You are welcome to ask him his history, for he has told me nothing.
- What is your theme song?
- The theme from A-Team
- Will you use your powers for good or awesome?
- awesome
- If you were to die, would you be willing to be brought back to life? What if you could not be returned to life the way you were, would you accept an “alternate” new form to return as (a spirit possessing your old suit of armor or an undead just to give two examples)? If you were to accept an “alternate” form, what would be acceptable, or not acceptable.
- all living things most return to the soil as part of the cycle of life. as for my spirit, I suppose that’s in the hands of the Raven Queen.
