Gedreg is the leader of the orcish hordes attacking the elves of the Corsae woods to the south. According to the tales Gedreg believes or is the reincarnation of the great Orcish leader of the second age which nearly brought the elves of the Corsae to their knees. He has said that Gruumsh has touched him personally and has adopted the way of the Gruumsh priests by ripping out his eye in reverence for his god.

He is said to be uncommonly clever, beyond that of normal orcs, again it is said that he is touched by Gruumsh. His brutality strikes fear in those who are on his side and the opposition.

His size is very average for an orc but he has a couple of totems that are carried around with the heads of his enemies.

His arise to power began some six years before when in a dream he saw his god Gruumsh speak to him about the greatness that would be his. After all he was named for a great orcish leader in the past and he showed leadership and other qualities in tribal disputes. Gruumsh told him that he needed to be a symbol to his people and to destroy the hated enemy of the Orc, the elves. When he awoke, he decided then and there to achieve that destiny. He made an announcement to his followers to meet at the red rock that was the center of his village. There he plucked out his left eye in tribute to Gruumsh and spoke of the greatness of the orc.

Gedreg and his followers began a campaign of uniting the various warring tribes under the banner of Gedreg. He used his name to build a back story of being the legendary 2nd age leader reincarnated. Rivals for his leadership either disappeared or went over to his side. It was at this time that he drew the attention of Malhaut, a devil that specialized in warrior souls, who became a mentor to him. Many of Gedregs comrades disliked the devil. Those who spoke to Gedreg about it eventually died in combat.

Malhaut suggested that he ally himself with giants, trolls and other races to build up the forces arrayed against the elves. This appealed to Gedreg so he went out and allied with them. Malhaut often accompanied him on the journeys as well as his compatriots.

Gedreg sent his best friend Gothmog to the north with orders to go with the war of attrition to prevent the elves from coming to the aid of those to the south and to drive his forces into Entheil by the most direct means possible. He also found willing priests, all looking for favor with Gedreg to be some of his subordinate commanders. With Malhauts assistance, the army was organized and marched on the elves.
