Biography: For as long as he could remember, William Benson always had a love affair with history. It all began when he was eleven and his parents divorced and he moved with his mother to Indianapolis. While she spent most of her time floating from boyfriend-to-boyfriend, dating half of the newly locatated Indianpolis Colts, William spent his visiting the historical landmarks the city possessed. He all but lived in the chambers of the World War Memorial and dreamed of one day being a curator.

His love led him in other directions, however. Not long after graduating college he was recruited by the Thule Society, a clandestine group dedicated to securing Hyperborean artifacts and protecting mankind from the dangers these items posed. With access to many rare tomes, William’s education in the occult began. He quickly absorbed it all though and became a valuable tool to the society- so much of a key member that he had been selected to ascend to the ranks of a group hidden in their midst: the Illuminati…

ILLUMINATI: The Circle Chase – William was learning under one of the Illuminati when Ahasuerus attacked, attempting to secure a shard of the Sephirot. William attempted to fight him and failed to protect the artifact. Still, he began tracking the Wandering Jew from guardian to guardian- ultimately encountering him again in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. It was there that he met the quirky, would-be-heroes destined to become the new Illuminati. The group banded together and pursued Ahasuerus, ultimately defeating him in the Vatican City…

ILLUMINATI: philanthropic VENGEANCE – The group’s victory was a somber one, given the prophesies whispered through the lips of Oafeon, by the entity that called itself Indrid Cold. According to the being, William was destined to decapitate Coup Field. Those visions slowly came to pass when William was lured to Berlin by news of a colleague’s death. There, he met the Black Eyed Children who told him he was destined to be turned into a homunculus. Lacking his magical bracelet, William drew his newest weapon: the legendary blade, Tyrfing. Once drawn, Tyrfing increased a swordsman’s ability drastically, but they could not stop fighting until the sword had devoured a soul. Overcome by the dark blade, William used it to slay Coup…

…or so he thought.

Once all had been revealed as an illusion, the Illuminati pressed onward and came across the Vindicators. The two groups teamed up to fight the Sixth Reich, only to watch as the Vindicators were de-aged and defeated.

ILLUMINATI: Wild Hunt – The Illuminati, searching for the Aurelius, were commissioned by Puck to join the Wild Hunt- a mad hunt across reality and beyond for one item: the Anathema Ring, a great weapon in the coming war against Apocatastasis.
