1. Allejandro is a member of a young gang of do-gooders that are dedicated to ridding their neighborhood of violent crime.
2. Allejandro’s parents – with whom he still lives – are illegal immigrants from Cuba, trying to keep a low profile from Immigration authorities. They are not happy with Allejandro’s neighborhood activism.
3. Allejandro is already on the “hit list” of several small-time gangs that he managed to push out of his turf, but none of them have the resources to reliably take him out.
4. Allejandro is an incredibly gifted chess player.
5. Allejandro walks his sister to and from school everyday, making sure that she gets there safely.
