Bio
Thrush remembers a time when he was happy, had a home, knew the joys of family, brothers and sisters, father, mother, loving wife, a young child. He was a hunter, a provider, thrilling in the stalk and the kill, acknowledging the animal that die to feed his tribe, his village. And in a night of extraordinary length, he lost it all, as the Hush swallowed his village, gone in the space of a few hours… or so it seemed, for when dawn finally came for Thrush it was not the day after but seven years, gone by in no time at all. His life erased from meaning, his existence torn asunder, he wandered into the frozen waste to die… but didn’t.
Something terrible had become of him, for although he could feel the cold, feel it deep inside, it could no longer kill him, nor could the hunger he felt as a gnawing pain lay him low, nor the biting wind nor freezing waves claim him. But neither could food ease his hunger, nor fire warm him, nor alcohol drown his sorrows. Soon he came to realize that the gods had truly abandoned him, cast him adrift on the sea of life, leaving him only one pleasure, one release, one way to ease the loss if only for a time; the hunt, the kill, of something worthy, for a worthy reason. So now he haunts the land, not fully alive, not yet dead, unable to take his own life but unwilling to let another take it for him. And So he Hunts, to kill the darkness, to slay the pain, to feed others if not himself, a man without a home, without hope, seeing only an endless succession of tomorrows, for in the back of his mind he wonders, “Can I even die at all?” and all the answers terrify him.
He is driven to find a cause worthy of him, for his life was dedicated to the feeding of his village, but has not found one and cannot settle down for the laughter of children is physically painful to him.
