Bio
My name is Dr. Jun Fan. I’m a 35-year-old, male human from the Coromon Islands of the planet Fresia. My father, Del Fan, is VP of Research and Design at Incom. He graduated top of his class from the famous School of Starship Engineering of Corellia University. He was immediately hired by a recruiter from Incom, and it didn’t take him long to move up the corporate chain. My mother, Qing Fan, was a medical student at Corellia University at the same time my father was there. My father’s roommate set them up on a blind date, and it was love at first site. In fact, they married only after six months of dating. Luckily, Father was able to use his position at Incom to obtain a residency for Mom at a prestigious hospital on Fresia. Six years later, I was born.
When you are the only child of an up-and-coming Incom executive and a respected doctor, it’s an understatement to say that I was spoiled as a child. I had a private tutor for every school subject plus my own private Teras Kasi instructor. Even though I spent more time with my nanny and tutors than my parents, I never felt neglected. Father used to always take me on rides on various prototype ships, which is probably where I developed my love for flying. However, my fondest childhood memories stem around following my Mom on her rounds at the hospital. It was her love and compassion for helping people that ultimately persuaded me to go to medical school.
At the time I graduated from Prep School, I had a strong passion for intergalactic archeology. Thus, I chose to attend the University of Byblos, so I could study under the famous professor Reina Solov. My father thought I was wasting my talents in such a field, but Mom was very supportive as always. During my undergraduate years, I assisted Dr. Solov on her investigations of the mysterious Fellowship of Kooroo. We spent a semester on the Outer Rim planet Qalydon digging around the ancient shrines of Kooroo. I was fascinated by their reported “telepathic” powers. On our last day, I was digging in an area by myself when I found an ancient manuscript on telepathy training. I don’t know what came over me, but I immediately tucked it in my shirt and took it to my room. After arriving back to Byblos, another student from the trip found the manuscript in my bag and informed the university. I hid the book in a safe spot and denied the accusation. It was my word versus his, and Father exerted his influence in this matter as well. As a result, I was not expelled from the university, but I was dismissed from the archeology program. Thus, I finished school with a double major in computer engineering and xenobiology and graduated top of my class. To this day, I’m still trying to translate the manuscript.
Wanting to follow in my mother’s footsteps, I attended medical school at the University of Coruscant. In fact, I entered a joint Ph.D./M.D. program and received a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering. In my second year of residency at a hospital on Coruscant, I decided to specialize in Cybernetic Surgery on multiple species. Upon finishing my residency, my mother helped me get a fellowship at her hospital on Fresia. It felt good going back home.
Six months after my fellowship, something happened that changed the course of my life. On that day, I was sipping on a cup of coffee while flirting with the nurses in the ER, when 3 injured men entered the hospital. Several minutes later, my mother escorted these men into her office. I found this to be odd since my mother practices internal medicine. Before I could enter her office to see if she needed any assistance, 5 Stormtroopers rushed past me and stormed into her office. One Stormtrooper held me back as they carried my mother and the three men away. That was the last time I saw her. Once she was publicly labeled a rebellion loyalist, my father protected his image by getting a “speedy” divorce. He refuses to even talk about her, and I hardly ever talk to him anymore.
Several months afterwards, a woman knocked on my door around 9:00 pm. She introduced herself as Natasha Solov, the daughter of my archeology mentor Reina Solov. She said she had an important matter to talk to me about, so I invited her in. Natasha informed me that she was my mother’s contact to the Rebellion, and that my mother’s work with the Rebellion was still not complete. I was their last hope of finishing the mission. Intrigued, I asked her to continue. My mother was in the process of helping several dissident Incom scientists provide the Alliance with the location of four prototype X-wing starfighters, the very ship my father helped develop. This seemed like the perfect way to get back at my father after he abandoned my mother. Thus, my career as a Rebellion spy began that day.
The Star Destroyer Tyranny had been discovered orbiting Frescia. The Rebels executed an operation to lure the ship back to the Kuat Shipyards. Captain Raymus Antilles lead this air strike successfully. Unfortunately, before leaving the Fre’ji system, the Tyranny deployed a network of sentry drones to warn the Imperial Navy in the eventuality of any attempt to disrupt the Incom Corporation nationalization ceremony. During the Battle of Wayland, two droids, named R2-D2 and C-3PO, helped the Rebel Alliance obtain several landing codes to the ceremony. Several Rebel ships containing Rebel pilots registered as attendees to the ceremony, and were safely on Fresia awaiting orders to steal the prototypes. While all this was taking place, my job was to steal the codes to the hanger where the prototypes were located. I went to my father’s office during his lunch, and his secretary allowed me to wait for him in his office. I hacked into his computer and stole the codes. It was too easy! The adrenaline rush was very addicting. I knew this is what I was meant to do with my life. Afterwards, the Rebellion successfully stole the fighter ships.
Currently, I practice Cybernetic surgery at the same hospital my mother had once worked. I also own a private, general practice that employs three doctors. Natasha works as the office manager, and she is my contact to the Rebellion. As a respected Philanthropist, I fly around the galaxy in a ship titled “the Phantom Limb” that was a medical school graduation present from my parents performing cybernetic surgeries to those in need. Also, I lecture at various Biomedical Engineering programs on the development of modified prosthesis. This provides an excellent cover while I continue my work for the Rebellion. Due to the large amounts of cybernetic prosthesis in my ship, I have hired a man named Trent Bishop to be my chief of security and personal bodyguard.
