Bio
Jogaila has experienced his share of misfortune, though perhaps no more than most people of Tanno. His father Odilo died in battle when Jogaila was a lad, taking many enemies with him to the afterlife. Jogaila’s wife died of disease more than a decade ago, before she could bear any children. More recently, his mother passed away in old age, yet that represents no tragedy, just the nature of life. His only sister, Annelise, married a man from White Bear, and has a growing brood of her own.
Jogaila lived through the happiness and the pain, and these things changed him. On his own, and with no family to anchor his responsibility, he would leave for weeks at a time on journeys towards the Hush. Alone with only his wits and his thoughts, he honed his survival skills. He made his own leather clothing from animals he killed. When necessary, he fabricated his own snowshoes. Coming home from the wilderness, Jogaila resembled a wild man with a long beard and longer hair, tied back with the heirloom headband passed down from his father.
That headband keeps him close to the old man, and helps him to remember those values which are important: keeping one’s word, standing by friends, protecting the weak and the helpless. Jogaila wants to be more like his father, to be remembered and revered, but life has handed him the path of the loner. He has accepted what Kol has given. To complain would be foolish, as if any man can control anything but himself.
Still, now he approaches middle age, and knows the time to prove himself grows short. His body is lean and hard from his treks, his skills honed. Were he to perform great deeds, he might still find another wife. That is why Jogaila must leave Tanno for adventure.
Gained horrific scars after leaping into the belly of a gigantic Remorhaz.
