Fiendseeker (Su) While holding, wearing, or wielding Moonshadow, you can detect any evil outsider within 60 feet, but you must concentrate (a standard action) to do so. You ignore any damage reduction of an evil outsider when attacking it, whether with Moonshadow, some other weapon, an unarmed attack, or natural weapon, provided you are wearing or otherwise using Moonshadow).

Intelligent Legacy (Su) Moonshadow is sentient. Neutral good in alignment, she communicates telepathically and speaks Common, Elven, and two other languages. She can hear and see out to 60 feet using darkvision. She has Int 16, Wis 10, Cha 16, and a starting Ego of 11. As her enhancement bonus improves, and new legacy tiers are unlocked, Moonshadow’s Ego increases. Her current Ego is 14.

Unceasing Servant (Su) You enjoy the continual benefit of an unseen servant, as the spell. If dissipated by 6 or more points of damage from an area attack, or if it ceases to exist by moving more than 35 feet away from you, the servant re-forms 1 round later in any square adjacent to you.

Skill Enhancement +5 (Su) Moonshadow grants a +5 competence bonus on Knowledge (the planes) checks.

Dimensional Anchor (Sp) Once per day, when you issue the command word and gesture with Moonshadow, you can use dimensional anchor as the spell.

Break Enchantment (Sp) Once per day, when you issue the command word and gesture with Moonshadow, you can free subjects from enchantments, transmutations, and curses, as with the break enchantment spell. (Moonshadow may use this power upon you herself if she deems it necessary.)

Backstory

APPEARANCE
Moonshadow is a longsword, the unmistakable masterwork of elven craftsmen. A line of runes decorates the length of one side of the blade, one for each owner the sword has had.

The sword’s Elvish name, “Il’Lafaliavel” (which roughly translates to “gift of the moonshadow sword”), is inscribed upon the reverse side of the blade.

HISTORY
Moonblades are passed down from parent to child in elven families; the sword itself decides which heir it belongs to. If no worthy heir exists, the sword lies dormant and exhibits no magical powers at all. This seems to be the case with Moonshadow.

Kalenthor believes that the key to unlocking the sword’s abilities lies on the Outer Planes. Firil Starwing is currently researching the ritual.

SOURCE
Moonblades appear in Magic of Faerûn, page 170. Moonshadow, however, uses the legacy item rules from Weapons of Legacy.
