Bio
A Physical, Social, & Psychological Description
Oskilar Malvado is a male Human Cleric of the Raven Queen. He is 29 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 193 pounds, and of Neutral Alignment. He has short golden brown hair with more blond tips that often wave just below is brow. Osko is quite strong among those of his race and despite the heavy armor he wears it shows through in the spots that the armor does not cover. Even with his battle hardened and leathery skin, Osko retains his youthful appearance & strong facial features, and has a the tendency to stare off into the distance as if deep in thought. He delights in the art and preparation of combat and has much experience in the field. He may not be the most talkative person, mostly because he does not always understand what people are talking about, but when the chips are down Osko seems to pull through with grace and ease.
Oskilar Malvado's name is a derivation from a terran word meaning "free from evil" though he holds no knowledge of this. As stated before, Oskilar is a Cleric of the Raven Queen and has duties that he abides by with vigor, they are as such: He loathes pride and the weaknesses it tries to cover up; Holds little sorrow for those that pass on, as he believes that it is what we do with the time we are given that makes us who we are, rather than how we die; Seeks to end the existence of all undead that he comes into contact with, as they break the universal rule of the balance of life; Finally as most patrons of the Raven Queen "The God of Death" do, Osko detests Orcus and any undead or living that seek to serve him.
A man who does not know what path he walks but has a desire for it, would be one way to describe Osko's outlook on his life. Another would be someone who is searching for life's answers to questions he does not yet know, only the intuition and life-vigor drive him. Osko hold his ear high to the sky and waits for the call… If there is one.
Oskilar Malvado a revolving, collected, dense, strong, and protective tactician of life with all the ups & downs it holds.
Backstory~
Oskilar Malvado grew up in the Kingdom of Duaden in the town of Layordan. He has fond memories of growing up there on the outskirts of the land, living with his sister Jessina, his father Ruprecht, and mother Aubrey. Osko’s father was a bit of Renaissance man and took much of what he learned in books and taught it to his son. Things like, appreciation of the arts, ornate rituals to the gods, craftsmanship and above all, war tactics for both the individual soldier and group combat. They delighted in physical competition, and strategic exercises. One of his most fond memories is when he and his father would race to till the fields while his mother and sister looked on from their labor at the house. Little did Oskilar understand but this training was not only a bond between father and son, Ruprecht was preparing his son to take on his position in House Gnord. The Kingdom of Duaden is a land rich in farm land and has easy transportation because of the many rivers and streams that run through it. However the neighboring kingdom of Bael-Khorus has little farm land, but is rich in mineral resources which Duaden lacks in. This difference in natural resources along with a deep seeded rivalry has been enough for the two countries to war for the better part of a century. The warring neighbors have no standing army, but each has a mercenary’s guild, Duaden has the Raven Fist Guild made up of House Gnord while Bael-Khorus has the Hands of Death comprised of House Gneed.
At the age of fourteen Oskilar entered the Raven Fist Guild and began his formal training with the mercenaries, both in the heat of combat and divine training. With the life lessons of combat already rooted in his body, Oskilar turned his attention to the assuasive arts, and showed an affinity for the tactical mind. In his continued militaristic education Osko met Nessa Calmcacil, an Elven instructor for the students of the sword. She specialized in wilderness tactics and soon became the unrequited desire of Oskilar’s heart. Although there was a spark between them the two guild-mates were on different paths, and the difference in longevity made it all but a dream. With heart and soul entwined in the fate of the guild, the young Malvado soon climbed to the rank of Captain of the Guard at the age of 25. Not that long after receiving rank of Captain, Ruprecht fell ill with the weakening of old age. For the next two year Osko & Ruprecht fought hard to survive, each in there own way. However, in the end Ruprecht succumbed to the illness. In the time after his death, Osko found himself in search of life’s answers and found a few in the Church of the guild… The Raven Queen. This solace on lasted a short while, and was not rooted like the teachings of his father… Which seemed so distant now. Oskilar’s heart got a little colder each day and it began to show in the field, he made more brash decisions; one’s based on emotion not logic.
Three years after his father’s death his mother died in a fire that was set by those of House Gneed during a raid. With a heavy heart Oskilar buried his mother, and when the time came for a raid on the Hand of Death, the sorrowful Cleric fought only with anger. In that rage Oskilar made the gravest mistake of his life. While attacking a Bael-Khoran mining facility his squad was ambushed. While being given the order to retreat, an arrow pierced the chest of his superior, but Osko would have no retreat this day. In his pride he gave the order to forge on, into the ambush. When the final sword was sheathed the fates of all his fellow compatriots were sealed. Only by being so near to death did Oskilar slip past the detection of the enemy mercenaries. Later when asked by the guild about the failed raid, he explained to them in detail the events which still carry weight on his soul today.
With the pain of loss and a formal resignation from the guild, Oskilar set off into the world hoping to find some peace with the events of his life, and if the Raven Queen still has a fate for this now downcast traveler.
