Backstory

The personality imbued within the sword is a splinter of Jarl Tedryk, Jarvyk’s famous ancestor. If Jarl can be trusted, he traveled the multiverse in life and even brought the worship of Clangeddin Silverbeard to Oerth from another Prime world known as Abeir-Toril. Jarl claims that the sword (“Silverbeard’s Diplomacy” as the wily sword referred to it) was originally given to him by the Twin Axes Himself and that before being sent back to inhabit the sword, he’d been a proxy of the god. He claims that his being here must be the result of having lost a bet.

Now that he’s there, he impresses upon Jarvyk the importance of returning home to sort out the question of the family name. After hearing Jarvyk’s description of the situation at home (and the knowledge of aberrations and his special ability against them weighing heavily on his splintered mind), he is certain that his primary role will be in helping his kin remember who they are and inspiring them to fight against whatever is causing the conflict.
