4 Rune Tablets

The Rune Tablets are clay tablets the size of playing cards. They are engraved with the Dwarven Runes of Elemental Knowledge.

4E Rules

  • Fire Glyph- Make an attack: Area burst 1 within 10; +9 vs. Reflex; on a hit, deal 2d6 fire damage; on miss, deal half damage.
  • Ice Glyph- Make an attack: Ranged 5/10; +9 vs. Reflex; on a hit, the target takes 1d10 cold damage and is slowed until the end of your next turn; on miss, the target takes half damage and is not slowed.
  • Death Glyph- Make an attack: Ranged 5/10; +9 vs. Reflex; 1d10 Poison damage and ongoing 5 poison damage (save ends); on miss, half damage and no ongoing damage.
  • Bone Glyph- Make an attack: Ranged 5/10; +9 vs. Reflex; on a hit, the target takes 1d10 Necrotic damage and is weakened until the end of your next turn; on miss, the target takes half damage and is not weakened.

3E rules

When a tablet is thrown to the floor Range 10ft, a random effect occurs.

1 Fire Glyph- 5ft Diameter Ball of Flame causes 1d12 dmg (DC18) 2-4 Ice Glyph- 10ft Cube of Cold that Stuns (DC18) for 1 round. 5- Death Glyph- Cause Fear in a 10ft Radius. (DC18) 6- Bone Gyph- Breaks the bones of the nearest person (50/50 arm or leg) (Fort DC18)

Backstory

Found in the inner sanctum of Grisnak the Corruptor at Balean Nakt
