Carolyn's Mapcase
A sturdy mapcase of paper holding and protecting.
Author: bluea
Category: container
Game System: AD&D (2.0)
Is Public?: Yes
Is Visible?: Yes
Description
A sturdy tubular scrollcase with two knobby endcaps. The endcaps are non-magical. The ends of the tube have gaskets for sealing, and are finely threaded on the inside. Only paper, parchment, vellum, and other written material may be fully inserted, but an inordinate amount fit easily.
A Read Magic cast on the tube allows one to read the fine inscription on the outside – as demonstrated below. (The text always reflects the current contents, and the person to whom the tube is attuned need not cast Read Magic to read the list.)
| Scrolls | Maps | ||||
| 1 | 1st | Sleep | 1 | Hills of Kron | |
| 1 | 1st | Magic Missile | 1 | Cishathorpe | |
| 1 | 1st | Detect Magic | 1 | Brigand’s Map |
The owner may cast spells off of the scrolls held within as if they had been removed and held normally. (The scroll is consumed, as normal.)
Additionally, once per day there is a chance that a first level spell memorized by the caster is not forgotten when cast… if there is also a scroll of that same spell stored in the tube.
