Got the Red Box when I was 12 years old (…back in 1984, yikes!) and I was hooked. Played games all throughout high school: AD&D, Star Frontiers, Gamma World, Twilight 2000, Traveller, Car Wars, GURPS, Star Wars, Paranoia. Played a little Vampire: the Masquerade and some weird indie stuff in college, but after that real life (i.e. military, marriage, kids, etc.) got in the way. Dabbled in 3.5 and Pathfinder over the years, but nothing serious.
Started playing 5e about six months back. I’ve played in a couple of one-shots and short campaigns, and I’m currently DM’ing a live group game in Eberron every other weekend. Now that I’m mostly DM’ing. I alsp play online using Fantasy Grounds and Roll20.
I enjoy the storytelling and character interaction aspects of the game the most, but won’t let that get in the way of a kickass combat scenario, or a cool puzzle that needs to be solved.
