Jim was suckered into playing D&D for the first time when he was 12. While initially confused about the difference between hit points and hit dice (which led to a number of anti-climactic dragon battles), he knew he was hooked the first time he bashed a goblin with his dwarf's ax. From there, things just went downhill. He attended D&D summer camp for the final 2 years it was held, played and/or GM'd 5 different campaigns over the next 15 years, and branched out into superhero RPGs with the original Villains & Vigilantes. LARPing in Vampire:The Masquerade, playing computer games, collecting comic books, and voraciously reading SF&F, Jim has succumbed to the full gamut of geek life. While recently real life has interfered with his ability to participate in a campaign as a player or GM, Jim keeps his hand in as a consultant with the League of Evil Gentlemen (he made the GM consulting on a plot point shudder in disgust with his solution for artificial Black Silver, and led one superhero PC to SPIT IN THE FACE of a shackled prisoner. Evil indeed). Jim lives his RPG life vicariously thru his friends and associates, wistful waiting for the day when he can finally break out his books and dice again. But with two kids under 6, that time will not be soon. Until then, he lurks prepared, always ready to twist a plot situation in a manner that will lead the players to exclaim "No way!!" and "Uggg! Who does that?". Jim Oliver – consultant to those who may not know exactly what they are getting into, but are usually impressed and sometimes disgusted and/or afraid.
