I live in Wichita, Kansas, and I have been an avid gamer for more than a quarter-century. I am the producer and host of the popular RPG podcast Metagamers Anonymous, and the director of the Prismatic Tsunami gaming community.
I started playing D&D (BECMI) when I was 8 years old, and started running games (for adults… I was an awkwardly intellectual kid) when I was 10. I moved quickly to 1st Edition AD&D, was a late hold-out for 2E (didn’t switch until 1992), and was an eager convert to 3E the week it came out. I am not a fan of 4E, though I really, really wanted to be… in the end, it just wasn’t the right game for me and my group. I now use a heavily-modified 3.5E D&D system.
I have now run at least one game session a week, almost without fail, for the past 20 years. Often more. I always keep a primary D&D game going, and will frequently run something else on the side: Arcana Unearthed, D20 Modern, Star Wars, Call of Cthulu, Wheel of Time, World of Darkness, Mutants & Masterminds, and more recently Savage Worlds… Gaming is a huge part of my life, and I am now proud to share the experience with my wife – whom I first met when she joined my gaming table back in 1990 – and my children.
In addition to being a lifelong Dungeon Master, I am also a writer and a musician, and I currently working toward a bachelors degree in Psychology.
