Creating the NPC

The NPC Tracker is (in my opinion) one of the killer features of Obsidian Portal. Finally, an easy and intuitive way to catalog all your NPCs. Grow the list over time, while you grow individual NPCs who turn into recurring characters.

Adding an NPC is very easy, and open to the GM and all players in the game. Simply navigate to the NPC tracker tab on the campaign top bar. In this section, you will see a sidebar like the one pictured below. Type in a name for your new NPC, and optionally some tags.

Tags are simply one-word attributes you'd like to give to an NPC, and you can make up as many as you want, and use as many as you want on any given NPC. Good tags might be something like "friendly" or "hostile" Also, tagging NPCs by their town or location works well, too.

Sorting by tag

Assuming you added some tags to your NPC, it is now possible to filter the list to only those NPCs that have that particular tag. Simply click on the tag you wish to filter on in the sidebar to the right. To return to the full list, simply click on "Show All"

If you'd like to see the tagging and filtering in action, check out the Kensing NPC Tracker. I have added and tagged many of the NPCs in this campaign, and I continue to add more as they enter the game.
