So I am back to the Portal, back in Rhode Island and I am thinking that it is time to start using the Portal the way I should be. Time to learn what I am supposed to be doing.
The concept of Ashbrook that has been floating around in my head for a few years and gathering mass and gathering speed is about creating a small town for D&D characters to call home and to be almost completely clockwork. Every time the PC’s visit or move through the town, there should be dice rolled. Did they encounter something on the way to the tavern? Did they encounter something in the tavern? Can the encounter be something that the DM is expecting or does it have to surprise him as well.
So that is the tough part, the part that I struggle with. Making a automated home town that is different and vibrant and pretends to be alive because of the dice being rolled and the results hoped for. Now if I can just figure out where the ‘SAVE’ button is.
