Hi, I’m ‘grief’ and I’m a gamer.
It all began with Star Wars by West End Games. I loved the system and the environment, but my friends wanted to play something a bit less commercialized, so we began playing with some other local gamers, each of us various ages and interests. The sessions were packed all types of fantasy references and styles, much of which I didn’t know, but the campaign setting is what intrigued me. I wanted to explore every inch of it. (not something a dungeon master wishes for unless they have an endless imagination, a lot of time on their hands, or a great formula. (Thank you Terry Goodkind)
That sense of exploration was even further expanded when I found Tolkien sitting alone and dusty on my father’s book shelf. Middle Earth was even more fascinating due to the artistic way it was described through poetry, epic battles and linguistics.
Even to this day when I am playing WOW I sometimes risk everything just to see that one vantage point that gives me a different perspective on the worlds that Blizzard has created.
So, yes. I’m ‘grief’ and I’m a gamer.
