The universe exists within balance. There can be no good without evil, no love without hate. Life becomes death. Innocence gives way to lust. There can be no heaven without hell, and even the gods know there is no light of good without the dark of evil to match it. But what if I told you that these aspects of the universe were just different sides on a massive cosmic die? What would you say if I told you the struggle to maintain balance of good and evil in your world is not predetermined or predestined as most naive heroes are led to believe…but instead is decided upon by blind chance? Know this, then: the whims of the cosmos and the gods who rule it are the true masterminds behind the coincidences and circumstances of your lives. What you call “fate”, the best and worse moments of your life which you define yourself by, were simply the consequences of a lost wager between immortals!

Allow me, the Gambler, to guide you on a journey whose outcome is unforeseen even to one such as myself. Chance, not fate, will throw open the many doors leading to your goal. It will be up to you to decide what doors to take, and what risks you are willing to make along the way. Before the end of it all you will undoubtedly make wondrous discoveries, drink of love’s bitter poison, wreak unholy vengeance, suffer bitter betrayal, and experience both the ache of terrible loss and the sweet taste of triumph. From my hidden palace I will observe and watch over you. Though you do not necessarily have my protection, know that I have chosen to place my faith (and several high stakes bets) upon you all…and I do hate to lose!
