So, these days I am mostly just trying to get by. I am still a tabletop role player, I am now also a PC gamer and Twitch streamer, and I have started a company with the goal of self-publishing my novels, poetry, and game materials. But nobody told me how expensive it was to actually get a book published. And I’m not talking vanity print, I’m talking about owning an ISBN number in order to have a legitimate searchable stockable book for bookstore shelves. Most everything else about getting published I can do myself, or can hire someone to do for me for fairly reasonable costs. But ISBN numbers are expensive as hell, and the company that sells them has a monopoly on them. Thank you US government.
