The Story of Me.
My life as a tabletop roleplayer began about 22 years ago. My family was at a get together with my mothers side of the family. My one cousin had picked up AD&D 2nd edition. Having nothing else better to do my brother, cousins, and I created characters. I created a chaotic good half-elf mage/priest and as a joke I named him Spock. We continued playing our characters on and off during our school breaks and vacations. But then one unfortunate late winter’s day one of my cousins passed away from a gun accident. After that event occurred things just didn’t seem right so we ended up shelving our characters and our get togethers ended.
I started to play with my friends after that. It was tough trying to get my friends playing thankfully I had about 4 solid players in my group of friends. We started off playing AD&D 2nd Ed. then we dabbled with 3rd edition D&D. Back in my senior year of high school we never got to go on a senior trip due to some crazy stuff happening overseas so we decided to do a senior dinner cruise. We had dinner on Keuka Lake and I brought my gaming books and ran a game of AD&D 2nd ed on the top deck. I was surprised that quite a few of the jocks in my school where quite interested and they sat and listened and observed us playing. Then after graduation my one friend bought Vampire the Masquerade and we played a little of that. I then discovered Call of Cthulhu when I visited and stayed with my brother for a few nights when he attended the Rochester Institute of Technology. I then discovered Big Eyes, Small Mouth a few years later when again I went and spent some time with my brother because he invited me to one of his gaming clubs activities. I was enthralled by the game and we went to a nearby gaming Mecca Millennium Games (the only really big store for RPGs in all of WNY) and I bought a copy. After I read it I let my brother read it and then we both wanted to play it. Soon we talked my sister in law into trying it. So I ran a few one shots in BESM.
A few years later Guardians of Order announced BESM 3rd Edition I immediately preordered it. When I got it I loved it and again played a few games of it off and on with my brother and sister in law. Then a few years later after the close of Guardians of Order I decided to create a website for all fans of Guardians of Order games to share their materials and knowledge. So the Guardians of Order Fansite was established. I still pick up new games here and there but rarely ever get to try them as there doesn’t seem to be many roleplayers in my area anymore.
