manythings2004's Bio
The name “ranger” seems like a human class. Would prefer to be called Elven Archer, except that the class stats there don’t really fit either. Let’s see what variants are in order.
Played D&D before they invented first edition. Call it the 0 edition perhaps; the paperbacks. Basic, Expert, Companion, etc. The best module was Master of the Desert Nomads. We used to sit around and design entire groups of 26 level characters, all to play by one single Player. And then there was the City of Thieves setting, long before Dragonlance and Greyhawk.
My DM style is fresh and always edging on chaos. I dont use plotlines. Only characters and settings. Everything happens from the skin of the teeth. Because the players actions should be able to determine the world.
After D&D, got into Twlight 2000 while it was still a new game. And that is why i know so much about gun ballistics. Otherwise, have only actually fired a .22. In that one we also designed entire character groups. Someone the character types were analogous to the D&D ones.
Had not played anything for about ten years. Recently a game of Call of Cthulhu brought my priest character into contact with a gun picked up from a heroic act of saving the life of a cultist. And, then the mind started to recall that i used to be into guns. And, then i got gun crazy and made soldier characters for Cthulhu and a jedi gunslinger for Star Wars, and for all three the precise models and calibers were essential information. Now, there is this D&D game where we are trying to decide how to transform a rogue character with almost no wisdom into a spellless Ranger. The idea being an archer, and that word should be pronounced with an inflection that respects the meaning of being a true handler of bows and shafts, along with the occasional cyclone of swordplay
