AggieBear90's Bio
Have played off and on for over 40 years. Currently playing mostly D&D 5e and more often that not I am the DM. I also coordinate a lot of D&D Adventurers League events in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
My Background
I started playing D&D back in the 80’s as a teenager. That is right! First Edition AD&D – all hail THAC0! I was introduced to the game when a friend of my parents invited us to learn. For several years I played once a month with my parents, my mom’s friend, her brother, and my sister. I quickly fell in love with the adventure and would read anything I could get my hands on. I also started reading Dragonlance novels about the same time. Then I went off to college. I didn’t play for a long time…too busy. I actually worked at a half-price bookstore for a while. I would pick up new content as it came in so I still stayed in touch. Many years later I played 3.0 and 3.5. I really thrived in that edition and began DMing more than playing. When 4th Edition came out I gave it a try and hated it…and went back to 3.5e.
Then 5th Ed came out. I had found my calling. I actually approached a local game shop to start running D&D Adventurers League there. Well…that store now has (pre-pandemic) 18 tables of D&D a week and I banded together with some friends to start our own company that runs D&D at local conventions. YEP…living the dream.
My DMing Style
According to Robin Laws of Good Game Mastering I am pretty heavy into the Method Actor and Storyteller realm. It is all about the immersion and the collaborative storytelling. But that isn’t all it is about. I have a good dose of Tactician thrown in there. However, I am most definitely NOT a Power Gamer.
