Out of the Abyssupdated
Newcomer to D&D. Aspiring actor. Main Character: Chryso Gracchus, Human Fighter.
Chryso grew up on his father Simon’s farm. Despite Simon’s landlord status, Chryso and his father often worked out in the field with the farmhands. “A good leader leads from the front,” his father always said. Chryso became quite strong after pushing the plow all those years. During his teenage years, he was in love with a girl named Selena Pulchra. However, when he was 18, and the 2 lovers were alone in a field, a dark-hooded mage, with a scorpion tattoo on his left hand, magically appeared, seized Selena, and disappeared with her. When Chryso told his father what happened, Simon revealed his true past to Chryso. Long before Chryso was born, Simon was a heroic paladin who vanquished many evil forces in his day. Though he knew little about the hooded figure, Simon remembered a villain by that description who plotted to conquer the kingdom, a plot Simon thwarted. At age 40, Simon asked the grateful king for farmland in a secluded town on which to retire, so he could raise a family safely away from the rest of the world. Now, Simon realized that the only way to protect Chryso, was to teach Chryso to protect himself. For the next 7 years, with the help of an old goliath compatriot named G’thul Firestriker, Simon trained Chryso to be a warrior, and put hime in contact with the Order of the Gauntlet. When Simon was 70, and Chryso was 25, Simon was close to death after his long and strenuous life. In his last moments, he told Chryso, “I know you are determined to find your lost love, but never forget that it is our duty, as the strong, to protect the weak. Always remember that.” “I will, father,” said Chryso. Simon then gave Chryso his holy symbol. Though Chryso can’t wield it as a paladin would, Simon hoped it might protect his son from dark magic. After burying his father, Chryso left the farm in his mother Olivia’s care, donned his armor, sword & shield, and for the first time, left the Dalelands.
